The candidates who have the required cutoff scores in JEE Main 2023 exam are eligible to sit for the next level called JEE (Advanced) 2023, the entrance to the elite Engineering institutions of India like the IITs, NITs, IIITs, etc.

How to Check the JEE Main Result?

Candidates should follow the steps mentioned below to check the JEE Main 2023 result:-

  • Visit any of these 3 official websites- www.jeemain.nta.nic.in, www.nta.ac.in, or www.ntaresults.nic.in.
  • Click on the link “Result of JEE(Main) Session 2_Paper 1”.
  • Enter the application number and date of birth as the password.
  • Click on the “Submit” button.
  • JEE Main scorecard will be shown on the screen.
  • Download the JEE Main 2023 result.
  • Take a printout of the result.

NTA will send a copy of the final scorecard to the candidates at their registered e-mail address too.

JEE Main Result: Important Points

Some important points regarding JEE Main 2023 Result are as follows:-

  • JEE Main Result gets released two times a year for its two sessions.
  • The result will have the qualifying Cutoff, admission cutoff, and Rank list of the candidates.
  • A total of 8.7 lakh aspirants registered for JEE Main 2022, but 7.69 lakh appeared for the test.
  • JEE Main 2023 score of 250 or above will be considered the optimum and safe for students.
  • Around 90th to 95th Percentile is ideal for getting admission to IITs and NITs.
  • JEE Main 2023 exam was conducted in 13 languages, viz. Gujarati, Hindi, Assamese, Bengali, English, Kannada, Odia, Punjabi, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

JEE Main Result - How is Percentile Score Calculated?

The percentile score of a candidate refers to 100 multiplied by the ratio of the number of candidates who scored equal to or less than the candidate and The total number of candidates who appeared in that session of a particular examination.

“For example, suppose a student has scored 350 out of 360. If the total number of students is 300000, and 290000 students score less than the candidate, then his percentile will be 100 x 290000/300000=96.66666666.”

What is NTA JEE Main Percentile Score?

The percentile of the NTA JEE main score is calculated to find out the relative performance of a candidate. It shows the percentage of candidates who score less than him/her. Here, the crucial thing to note is that the 100th percentile can be obtained without getting a perfect 100% in the exam. For instance, the topper gets 100 percentile as all the other candidates score lower than him/her.

JEE Main Result: Tie-Breaking Process

If two candidates get the same total score. Certain steps are taken for tie-breaking during the preparation of the merit list. These are as follows:-

  1. The score obtained by the two candidates in Mathematics is compared. The one with a higher score gets a better rank.
  2. If they get the same marks in Mathematics, their scores in Physics are compared.
  3. If they happen to get the same marks in Physics too, their scores in Chemistry are compared.
  4. If they also get equal marks in Chemistry, the candidate who has a lesser ratio of negative to positive responses gets a higher rank.
  5. Lastly, the age factor is considered, and the older candidate is given a better rank.

JEE Main Final Result 2023

NTA (National Testing Agency) will announce the final result of JEE Main 2023 Session 2 in April 2023. The testing agency first released the provisional cutoff and answer keys, and after a few days, the final cutoff and results were released.

For a candidate who sits for both the sessions of JEE Main 2023, the final result will have the scores obtained in the first and second sessions, the best out of two session scores, the All India Rank of the candidate, and the required cutoff score for JEE Advanced 2023.

JEE Main Result - How Merit/Rank list is Prepared?

Ranks will be released once both the sessions of JEE Main 2023 are completed. For the candidates who sit for both sessions, the rank will be decided on the basis of the best of the scores obtained in the two sessions. The percentiles of both sessions will be calculated to the 7th decimal for all the students. It is done to avoid the tie of scores. For the candidates who sit for only one session, the rank will be decided based on their performances in that session.

JEE Main cutoff refers to the minimum score that a candidate must have to qualify for the JEE Advanced exam. NTA has declared the JEE Main 2023 Cutoff for Session 2. However, the speculated cutoff in terms of percentile for various categories is-

  • UR - 88.4121
  • EWS - 63.1114
  • OBC-NCL - 67.0090
  • SC - 43.0820
  • ST - 26.7771
  • UR (PH) - 0.0031

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

The category-wise cutoff score for admission to NIT is as follows:-
  • General – 180+
  • OBC – 150
  • SC/ST- 100+

As per the previous trends, the approximate rank for a score of 100 in the JEE Main 2023 exam should be within a range of 47,000 to 58,000.

To get 99 percentile in the JEE exam, a minimum of 150 marks is required.

A rank amongst the top 25,000 ensures admission to a good engineering college in India. For this minimum of 80th percentile is needed.

Most probably not because the expected cutoff for the general category is around the 85th percentile.
