The JEE Main Counselling 2024 is the last step to securing admission into an engineering college after the aspirants have cracked the JEE Main 2024 exam.

To get the overview, last year, the counselling was conducted online for all candidates beginning from June 19, 2023. Once allotted a college through counselling, candidates will be required to visit the college for verification of their documents and confirmation of a seat.

The JEE Main Counselling 2024 involves three processes:

  • JoSAA: This is the combined counselling for candidates who qualify for both JEE Main and JEE Advanced. JoSAA alone allots the seats available in 110 engineering institutes, including various IITs, IIITs, NITs, and other GFTIs.
  • CSAB NEUT: This is the counselling held for supernumerary seats available in the North Eastern states and Union Territories. It is organised by the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB).
  • CSAB SFTI: This counselling process is conducted separately for 18 SFTIs (Self Financing Technical Institutes) by the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB). The allocation of seats is strictly based on the order of preference given by the applicants based on their JEE Main AIR in Papers I and II, respectively.

JEE Main 2024 Counselling Date

  • The JEE Main Counselling 2024 always takes place once the results of JEE Main 2024 get declared.
  • JoSAA registrations will begin in June 2024 tentatively.

Documents Required for JEE Main Counselling 2024

Online verification of documents will be done for all candidates after each round of seat allocation for JEE Main Counselling 2024. The same documents will be verified offline by the allotted college before confirmation of a seat is provided to the candidate.

In case of any discrepancies or violations of any norms concerning document verification, the candidate shall be disqualified. All necessary documents must be available with the candidate at the time of verification. Candidates must carry both original documents as well as their attested copies.

The documents required for JEE Main Counselling 2024 include:

  1. Personal - Photo identity card, Date of Birth (DOB) proof, Medical examination report, 3 Passport-size Photographs (same as those uploaded during registration), proof of seat acceptance fee payment.
  2. Academic Qualification - Class 10th mark sheet, Class 12th mark sheet, JEE Main Admit Card 2024, provision seat allotment letter.
  3. Physical Disability/Caste Certificate (if applicable) - Category certificate (OBC-NCL/SC/ST), OBC NCL declaration, PwD certificate.

JEE Main Counselling Procedure

The Jee Main Counselling 2024 involves the following steps in the procedure:

Step 1: Online Registration

Candidates can register for JoSAA 2024 on the official website, where they will be required to log in through their JEE Main 2024 application number, password, and security pin. Fill in your details carefully and then click on the “Confirm Registration” tab.

Step 2: Choice Selection and Locking

In this step, candidates are required to fill in their choices of programs and colleges. Once you have filled in your final choices, lock them before the last date of registration. The choices can be edited and locked after each round of JEE Main Counselling 2024.

Step 3: JEE Main JoSAA 2024 Seat Allotment

The highest suitable seat will be allocated by JoSAA based on their evaluation of the candidates’ choices, JEE Main 2024 AIR, category, availability of seats, etc. The candidates will be notified through SMS/mail on their registered number/e-mails.

Step 4: Seat Acceptance Fee Payment and Verification of Documents

Once the seat has been allocated, candidates will be required to pay the Seat Acceptance Fee for the seat allotted to them. This payment shall be made through e-Challan/Net Banking.

The seat acceptance fee varies for the categories as follows:

  1. General Unreserved: INR 45,000
  2. SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD: INR 20,000

After the candidates have registered and made the seat acceptance fee, they shall be called to the reporting centre where their documents will be verified, and further, provisional seats in suitable colleges will be allotted. Candidates will also be given a provisional admission letter.

Step 5: Report to Allotted College

This is the final step. Candidates will be required to report to the allotted college with the necessary documents for final verification and securing admission.

JEE Main Special Round Counselling

  • The JEE Main Special Round Counselling 2024 includes the counselling process that is organised by the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB).
  • The CSAB 2024 registration for special rounds will begin in October after the conclusion of the sixth round of JEE Main 2024 Counselling.
  • There will be two special rounds of JEE Main Counselling 2024 once the JoSAA 2024 seat allotment process concludes.
  • These two special rounds by CSAB are conducted for the seats that remain vacant after the 6 rounds of JoSAA counselling 2024.

JEE Main Counselling Cutoff - Opening and Closing Ranks

  • JEE Main Counselling Cutoff 2024 is released by JoSAA with opening and closing ranks for all 6 rounds.
  • The round-wise cutoffs will be released on the official website for JoSAA.

JEE Main Eligibility for Admission to Participating Institutes

The JEE Main Eligibility Criteria 2024 for admission to the participating institutes has been released by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

The details are given below.

  • Eligibility for NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, and SFIs: Admissions to B. Tech/B. Arch/Planning courses will be given on the basis of All India Rank (AIR).
  • For B. Tech, candidates must have achieved a minimum of 75% in their class 12 examination (a minimum of 65% is required for SC/ST candidates).
  • For admission to B. Arch, candidates must have achieved a minimum of 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics along with 50% marks in aggregate of the qualifying examination.
  • The above-mentioned criteria also apply for admission to other technical universities/institutes participating in JEE Main Counselling Process 2024 through JoSAA/CSAB.
  • Other Institutes: In the case of admissions to engineering colleges that are affiliated with State Universities, a separate rank link should be prepared by the state, based on eligibility criteria decided by them.
