NTA will release two NEET 2022 merits lists (probably at the end of June), one for All India Rankers and the other one for Quota candidates.

There are different types of merit lists, such as the All India NEET 2022 rank list, the All India 50% quota rank merit list, the All India 50% category rank list, and the State/Union Territories NEET merit list.

  • The All India Merit List - It shows the ranks of the candidates who appeared for NEET 2022 along with the total number of candidates appearing for the exam. The merit list includes their marks, the cutoff score and the cutoff percentile. It does not take into account the candidate’s category or their stand toward the AIQ reservation.

NEET 2022 Result: How to Calculate the Percentile Score?

To crack the NEET UG exam, at least 50 percentile is required. There are two methods to calculate the NEET percentile.

1. Based on Marks

Compare the raw score to the top NEET raw score. The formula for NEET exam percentile calculation based on marks is:

Score Percentile = [Your NEET Score/Topper’s NEET Score]*100

2. Based on Rank

Use your estimated NEET rank and the total number of qualifying NEET candidates. The formula for NEET exam percentile calculation by rank is-

Rank Percentile = [(Number of Qualifying Candidates-Candidate’s Personal NEET rank)/Total Number of Appeared Candidates

NEET Result 2022: Tie-breaking Protocol

The NEET 2022 tie-breaking protocol has seen some amendments this year. If we compare it to last year, it will include scores and the age factor. Last year, the NEET tie-breaking protocol included scores in Biology and Chemistry, but this year it will consider the scores obtained in all three subjects, namely Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

If two or more candidates secure equal marks/percentile scores in NEET 2022, then the final merit shall depend on the following:

  • Candidate getting higher marks/percentile score in Biology (Botany & Zoology) subject, followed by,
  • Candidate with higher marks/percentile score in Chemistry subject, followed by,
  • Candidate with higher marks/percentile score in Physics subject, followed by,
  • Candidates with less proportion of the number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in all the subjects,
  • Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Biology (Botany & Zoology) subject, followed by
  • Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Chemistry subject, followed by
  • Candidate with less proportion of a number of attempted incorrect answers and correct answers in Physics subject, followed by
  • Candidate older in age, followed by
  • Application number in ascending order

If there is still a tie, which is highly unlikely, then both candidates are given the same NEET UG rank.

What after NEET 2022 Results are Announced?

There are two counsellings, namely All India Quota Counselling and State Quota Counselling.

After the NEET 2022 results are announced, the Medical Counselling Committee and different state counselling authorities will publish category-wise NEET cut-offs for the candidates to get admission.
