National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test is the largest medical examination that is conducted by the NTA in India. NTA (National Testing Agency) administers the entire process of the exam conduction to releasing the results. The exam was taken by over 20.29 lakh candidates on July 17, 2023. This is a considerable bump in the number of candidates from last year as around 16 lakh students attempted the NEET 2021 exam held on September 12, 2021.

NEET 2023 Exam Analysis

As per the students and experts, the overall difficulty of the NEET 2023 exam was moderate to difficult. The Physics was a bit lengthy yet easy to moderate, having a larger weightage for numerical questions and the difficulty level of Chemistry was moderate. Zoology and Botany are said to be the easiest sections in the exam.

• The NEET 2023 exam had a total of 200 questions, out of which only 180 were to be attempted.
• The marks were also the same as last year, with 720 total and 180 marks for every section, including Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology. The time allotted was a total of 200 minutes.
• The exam centres for the NEET UG 2023 are now present in a total of 543 Indian cities, and 14 cities abroad.
• The exam was conducted in 13 languages - English, Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Marathi, Assamese, Gujarati, Tamil, Malayalam, Odiya, Kannada, Punjabi, and Telugu.

Analysis of the NEET UG 2022 Chemistry section

Level of Difficulty: Easy to Moderate

• The majority of questions were based on facts, statements, and tables from NCERT.
• Exact statements without any changes were asked from the NCERT.
• Section A included assertion reason questions. In order to answer this, students must possess good conceptual clarity.
• There are just 11 numerical problems, most of which were theory-based.
• A misspelling in one of the questions prevents it from matching the right answer.
• Highest Weightage Chapters - Solutions, Mole Concept, Chemical Bonding, Electrochemistry.

Analysis of the NEET Botany 2022 paper

Level of difficulty: Moderate to difficult

• Some of the questions were tricky and challenging.
• Few questions were exact lines from the NCERT textbooks.
• Most of the questions were factual in nature, but a few were concept-based.
• Two questions from the Living World and Anatomy of Flowering Plants were not correct.
• A surprising element is that some of the Biomolecules & Biotechnology questions were from outside the NCERT.
• The section was lengthy and time-consuming due to a large number of long statement-based questions.
• Highest Weightage Chapters - Plant Physiology, Plant Kingdom, Biotechnology, and Biomolecules.

Analysis of Zoology for NEET UG 2022

Level of difficulty: Moderate

• The Zoology section was lengthy.
• Although some questions look simple at first glance, they are actually complex and require clarity and attention to the keywords.
• Majority of the questions are NCERT based.
• Eight questions were only from the Biotechnology chapter.
• Although the paper is heavily NCERT based, two to three of the questions seem to be related which requires thorough conceptual clarity.
• Highest Weightage Chapters - Human Physiology, Molecular Basis of Inheritance, and Tissue.

NEET 2021 Exam Analysis

The total marks for NEET 2021 were 720 which are distributed among Physics, Chemistry, and Biology sections. Overall, according to the students who attempted the NEET 2021, the paper difficulty level was between easy and moderate.

Highlights from the Analysis of Question Paper from NEET 2021

• In 202 different cities, NTA has conducted NEET 2021.
• According to sources, about 95% of the enrolled students appeared in the NEET 2021 exam in about 3800 exam centres.
• Students had the opportunity to select one of 13 languages for the paper, including English, Hindi, Assamese, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Malayalam, Kannada, Marathi, Odia, Bengali, Urdu, and Punjabi.
• Each subject had two sections: section A (35 questions), and section B (15 questions). Students can attempt any 10 questions from section B.
• Negative marking was there for the NEET 2021 exam in which one mark is deducted for each wrong answer.

According to experts and students, the question paper for NEET 2021 was between ”Easy to Moderate”. But some students thought the paper was a bit lengthy. It is observed that the difficulty level of the Biology and Chemistry sections was between easy and moderate. But, Physics was difficult this time.

Along with an increase in the number of questions in reasoning and assertion, the NEET 2021 paper also included a lot of questions in the match and column formats. And also, the paper was NCERT based.

NEET 2021 Analysis of Physics Section

• According to the difficulty level, the NEET 2021 Physics section was described to be between moderate to difficult.
• Majority of the questions were asked from the mechanics i.e. around 13 questions.
• This section had a higher percentage of numerical-based questions than in previous years i.e. 70% more compared to question papers of previous years.
• There were some difficult questions as well, and in order to successfully answer them, students were required to possess solid knowledge and a thorough understanding of the fundamentals. It needed extra time and attention to properly respond to questions asked from optics, semiconductors, and the photoelectric effect.
• There were four to five difficult problems in sections A and B.

NEET 2021 Analysis of Chemistry Section

Majority of the questions were asked from the NEET syllabus of Class 12.

• On the difficulty scale, the Chemistry section was easy to moderate.
• Most of the questions were based on facts, figures, and tables from NCERT.
• The Inorganic Chemistry had about 19 questions, most of which were based on NCERT fundamentals. Students who were familiar with NCERT might have found it easy section. Most of them were statement-based questions.
• Many of the questions were based on numerical.
• The questions were repeated from the halogen acids' acidic strength.
• Three graphical questions & five matrix match questions were there.
• Overall, this section wasn't lengthy as compared to others.

NEET 2021 Analysis of Biology Section

NEET 2021 Botany

• This section difficulty level ranged from easy to moderate.
• There were some tough questions, but students could correctly answer them if they have a solid grasp of the fundamentals.
• Most questions were asked from NCERT.
• Many of the questions were based on facts and some were conceptual.
• Overall, the Botany portion was normal and had a varied set of questions.

NEET 2021 Zoology

• NEET's Zoology was pretty moderate.
• Questions seemed simple to answer but turned out to be challenging. Such questions required thorough concentration and clarity on the options as well as keywords.
• Most of the students were surprised by the earthworm question. Students who were fully versed in the NCERT material could respond to this question. (Questions were NCERT based.)
• There were a few questions that required thorough understanding because they were complex.
• Nearly 11–12 questions in this section were from biotechnology.
• Four questions pertaining to movement and locomotion from human physiology were asked.
• In general, the section could be solved with a solid understanding of the fundamentals and NCERT.
