Admission
NIOS, a government of India initiative, offers a flexible and learner-centric open schooling. NIOS certificates are equivalent to CBSE, CISCE (ICSE) & State Boards and are aligned with the National Curriculum Framework (NCF) by NCERT.
Eligibility
- Last Class Passed certificate from NIOS/CBSE/ICSE/State Board/any other recognized board
- Even learners with no formal schooling can apply with self-certificate
- Minimum age: 14 years
- No upper age limit

Mode of Study
NIOS follows an Open & Distance Learning (ODL) model, which includes:
- Printed Self Learning Material (SLM)
- Academic support via NIOS Study Centres (AIs)
- Study material delivered by post to the registered address of learner.
Admission Cycles
- Block I: March - April
- Block II: September - October
(Late admissions are permitted with applicable late fees, as per NIOS norms.)

Admissions to NIOS are 100% online.
Apply through any of the following modes:

- NIOS Study Centre (Accredited Institution – AI)
- Facilitation Centre
- Common Service Centre (CSC)
Documents Required
- Class VIII marksheet/certificate
- A self-certificate, in case of no prior formal schooling.
- Date of Birth proof
- Valid ID proof
- Photograph & signature
- Address proof
- Category certificate (if applicable)
Subject Selection
- Learners may choose subjects from the list offered by NIOS as per the Scheme of Studies.
- Subjects should be chosen carefully, keeping in view future academic and career plans
- Learners must select a minimum of 5 subjects as prescribed by NIOS.
Option to choose up to 1-2 additional subjects is available, either at the time of admission or during the course, as per NIOS norms.
