What is NIOS TMA?

Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA) is a subject-wise assignment submitted by eligible NIOS learners.

Tutor Marked Assignment (TMA) is a core continuous internal assessment format created by NIOS to verify progress throughout the academic term. Rather than leaving 100% of your performance dependent directly on public exams, TMAs offer a safe window to buffer and enhance your final board score from home.

📘

Subject-wise Assignment

Each subject has a separate TMA. Students should complete and submit TMA for every registered and applicable subject.

📝

Internal Assessment

TMA carries exactly 20% weightage of total theory marks and is written & compiled safely from the comfort of your home.

💻

Online Submission

All submissions must be uploaded digitally through your NIOS student portal dashboard or may be submitted with the support of study centre before the official closing timeline.

Guidelines for Writing Your TMA

Submitting TMAs isn't as simple as writing answers and handing them over. NIOS has very specific requirements that must be followed exactly, otherwise your study center may reject your submission or deduct marks for improper formatting.

• Read all assignment questions carefully.

• Understand core syllabus units before attempting.

• Refer directly to official NIOS course textbooks.

• Plan out structural sections of your answers.

• Write Name, Enrollment No, Contact No, AI Study Center Name, Course, and Subject on top of the first page.

• Write the complete question out clearly before its answer.

• Handwrite clearly on plain, unmarked A4 sheets.

• Use clean, unwrinkled white A4 paper only (No notebook sheets).

• Every single answer handwritten by student.

• Use a sharpened pencil for neat, labeled diagrams.

• Answer all 6 questions completely.

• Keep answers strictly numbered to match the question booklet.

• Number every page clearly at the bottom center (e.g. "Page X of Y").

• Keep margins clean and leave spaces between sections.

• Maintain word limits specified under questions.

• Show complete, step-by-step calculations for math solutions.

• Use headings, subheadings, and clear real-life examples.

• Keep handwriting clean, avoiding messy crossings or overwriting.
