The following points include the eligibility criteria for students who wish to apply for NEET UG 2024.

1. Age Limit

There is no upper age limit anymore. However, the lower age limit of this entrance exam is that candidates must be at least 17 years old as of December 31, 2023.

2. Academic Qualification for NEET-UG

The applicants must have passed their 10+2 or equivalent examination from any recognized board before appearing for this entrance. Candidates who are currently appearing for their 10+2 examinations may also appear for this examination.

3. Mandatory Subjects for All Undergraduate Medical Courses

This examination is meant for admission into medical courses and hence, Biology/Biotechnology is one of the compulsory subjects along with Physics, Chemistry, and English that students should have studied in classes 11th and 12th standard.

4. Qualifying Examination Scores for All Categories

  • General Category: Minimum 50% aggregate in their 10+2 examination under the Physics/Chemistry/Biology stream.
  • For OBC, SC, and ST Category: Minimum 40% aggregate.
  • For PWD Category: Minimum 45% aggregate.

5. Maximum Number of Attempts

The restrictions on the number of attempts for NEET have been removed. Hence, as per the eligibility criteria for NEET-UG, candidates will be allowed to appear for the entrance exam as many times as they would like, depending upon other factors of eligibility.

6. All India Quota seats

Overseas Indian Citizens (also referred to as OCI), Foreign aspirants, Persons of Indian Origin (PIO), and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) are entitled to reservation of seats in various medical colleges under the 15% of All India Quota seats. The candidates who are residents of J&K are, however, not eligible for these 15% seats reserved under the All India Quota.

Eligibility Criteria for NRI Students

The applicants applying for the NEET-UG examination who have completed their education from outside the country are required to fulfil the eligibility criteria for NEET in order to be able to appear for the NEET UG entrance exam.
The eligibility criterion specifies that the last examination to be passed by the NRI/Foreign students should be equivalent to a Class 12th qualification in their respective country. All the foreign/NRI candidates should have studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as their major subjects. Moreover, they must have passed the theory as well as the practical test in each of the three subjects as well as English as the qualifying examination.

How to Apply for NEET-UG 2024?

Here are the sequenced steps for registering and applying to appear in the NEET UG 2024.

  1. Go to the official website for NEET-UG 2024.
  2. Click on the 'New Registration' tab.
  3. Fill in the application form by providing your personal information such as your Date of Birth, Category, Mobile Number, etc. After the successful registration, you will receive your login credentials (Application Number & Password).
  4. Log in again on the portal using these credentials.
  5. Next, you will be required to fill out three exam centres based on your preferences.
  6. Fill in all the necessary details including your academic, personal, and other information carefully and recheck to avoid any mistakes.
  7. The next step will be to upload the necessary documents, like a photograph, signature, left thumb impression, your 10th-grade mark sheet, and others.
  8. Pay the Application Fee online.
  9. Once paid successfully, press the “Submit” button.
  10. Make sure to double-check all of the details and take a printout of the confirmation page and save it for future reference.

All candidates applying for NEET-UG are required to pay an application fee in order to complete the NEET application form submission process successfully. Here is the fee for different categories.
