JEE Advanced 2024: On 21st April 2024, IIT Madras will make the application form for JEE Advanced 2024 available. The application form will remain open till 30th April. Candidates who have passed JEE Main 2024 and want to get enrolled in the IITs must apply for JEE Advanced 2024.

The top 2,50,000 JEE Main 2024 applicants will have the opportunity to register for JEE Advanced this year. The exam date for JEE Advanced 2024 is 26th May. JEE Advanced Paper 1 will be held from 9 am to 12 pm, and JEE Advanced Paper 2 from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm.

JEE Advanced 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The requirements for admission into IITs through JEE Advanced include qualifying the JEE exam, minimum marks in 12th, and more. Candidates will be straightaway disqualified if the JEE Advanced 2024 qualifying requirements are not met. Criterion 1 - Qualifying Marks in JEE Main 2024

The first eligibility criteria for the JEE Advanced 2024 exam is related to the qualifying marks and rank that a candidate scores in the JEE Main 2024 exam. Candidates should have cleared the JEE Main 2024 (Paper 1). They are required to be within the top 2,50,000 candidates clearing the JEE Main exam. The division of categories is as follows:

  • OPEN - 40.5%
  • GEN-EWS - 10%
  • OBC-NCL - 27%
  • SC - 15%
  • ST - 7.5%
  • PwD - 5% horizontal reservation

Criterion 2 - No. of Attempts Allowed

Candidates can appear for the JEE Advanced exam at most 2 times in 2 consecutive years. It has also been announced by IIT Madras that those candidates who filled out the application for JEE Advanced 2023 but didn’t appear for the exam, would also have the option to appear for the JEE Advanced 2024 exam. No candidate would be allowed to sit for the JEE Advanced 2024 exam more than twice in two consecutive years.

Criterion 3 - Age Limit

The candidates born on or after 1st October 1999 are eligible for the JEE Advanced 2024. Candidates of the PwD, ST, or SC will get 5 years of relaxation in the age limit criteria. Hence, candidates belonging to these categories born on or after 1st October 1994 are eligible for the JEE Advanced 2024.

Criterion 4 - Previous Admissions at IITs

If a candidate has already been admitted to an IIT or ISM, they wouldn’t be allowed to JEE Advanced 2024. If a candidate got selected or admitted to the IIT but got rejected or expelled afterwards (regardless of reason) cannot appear for this exam. However, candidates who were first-time enrollees in a preparation programme at any of the IITs in 2023 may sit for the JEE (Advanced) exam in 2024.

If a candidate got selected and given a seat in any IIT via the JoSAA 2023, however, was

(a) Unable to report at the “official reporting centre” or online,
(b) Cancelled before the last round of allocating seats, or
(c) Withdrew before the last round of allocating seats, then they are eligible to give the JEE Advanced 2024 exam.

Criterion 5 - Having Appeared in the Examination for Class 12 or Equivalent

Candidates should have cleared the 10+2 examination in 2023 or 2024 for the first time. Additionally, if the academic year 2021–22 results are released on or after 15th October 2022, applicants from the exam for the 12th grade in 2022 will also be considered qualified for JEE Advanced 2024, given that they also satisfy the eligibility criteria.

The candidate will not be allowed to attempt the JEE Advanced 2024 if the examination board for class 12th releases the 2020-21 results before 15th October 2021, however, withhold the result of a specific candidate.

As a one-time special measure due to COVID-19, candidates who successfully registered for JEE (Advanced) 2023 and took the class 12th (or equivalent) exam for the first time in 2022 or 2023 but did not appear in BOTH papers, i.e., Paper 1 and Paper 2, are eligible to directly apply for JEE (Advanced) 2024.
